Learning to slow down in a fast-paced world.

In a world increasingly influenced by artificial intelligence, authenticity is becoming more valuable than ever.

This simple website is our attempt to explore how to live intentionally in a changing world. How can we use these new tools to make more room for what really matters?

A Bible verse I keep coming back to is Matthew 6:33: “Seek first the Kingdom of God.” Technology is a tool to that end if used wisely.

As AI increasingly challenges the value we place on intelligence and careers, we’re forced to confront how easily these things can become idols, and to ask deeper questions about what makes us truly valuable and unique.

If you wrestle with these questions, you’ve come to the right place.

Journal first.
Life first.

Most of what I share here begins in a handwritten journal. It’s where I slow down, pray, and reflect on life before bringing those thoughts into the digital world.

I write about my faith, reflections on the wise use of technology, and whatever else God is teaching me along the way. Sometimes it’s a question I’m wrestling with, sometimes a lesson learned, and sometimes just a thought worth remembering.

AI may help me organize and publish these reflections, but the thoughts begin with me, away from the screen.

This is an invitation to slow down and reflect with me.

Two names,
one family.

We’re Jordan and Eliana, an American and a Brazilian currently living in southern Brazil.

Jordan and Eliana together
Two family names. One home online.

Barbosa Rice brings together our two family names and represents the new story we’re living together. We’re raising a family, learning from two cultures, and trying to build a life centered on faith, love, and the things that truly matter.

We’re still figuring much of it out along the way. This website is a little window into that journey, and a place to share some of what we’re learning.

Work

I currently work with WIND, a nonprofit serving a rural community in Guatemala, coordinating donor communications and digital media. I’m grateful to be part of work that makes a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

I’m open to working with one additional organization that could benefit from similar support.

Beyond my nonprofit work, I’m exploring how artificial intelligence can help create small, useful businesses with less complexity and more freedom. I’m especially interested in whether technology can help us work more efficiently without losing the human touch.

For me, the goal in all I do is to seek first the Kingdom of God.
